Terms of sale
TODO: owner to review. These are draft notes so the page has a shape. They are not legal advice, and they are not a finished contract.
Who is selling
Vijay Kandhalu, a private seller in Scotland, UK, sells through Numberplate.sale. TODO: owner to confirm whether any sale is a private sale or a business sale. That choice changes the buyer’s rights.
This website is not DVLA, not GOV.UK, and not an official register. The government guidance is at GOV.UK.
What is for sale
The sale is of the entitlement to a registration, held on a V750 or V778. It is not the sale of a vehicle, and it is not a physical number plate. Suggestions about names or initials are ideas only. They are not a promise that the registration “is” a name.
Agreeing a price
A price is agreed only when both of us confirm it by email. A price on the website is an asking price or a guide. “Offers over” means offers above that guide. “Price on application” means ask me.
Payment
Payment is by bank transfer. TODO: owner to confirm the method, the account name, and when funds count as cleared. The entitlement is transferred after cleared funds, not before.
Transfer
After payment clears, I add you as the nominee or transfer the certificate. You then assign the number to a vehicle and order physical plates from a registered supplier. Those later steps are yours, including any government fee that is not included in the price.
Display rules
It is an offence to alter a registration’s characters or spacing on a displayed plate. A registration cannot make a vehicle appear newer than it is. Read the display rules on GOV.UK before you buy.
If something goes wrong
TODO: owner to set out what happens if a certificate cannot be transferred, a payment is reversed, or a buyer changes their mind. Do not publish this page as a finished policy until a solicitor, or a trusted adviser, has read it.
Vehicle names
Vehicle names are trademarks of their owners. Numberplate.sale is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any vehicle manufacturer.
Law
TODO: owner to confirm which law applies. A seller in Scotland often uses Scots law. Write to hello@numberplate.sale about a sale.
