How a transfer works
There is no checkout. We agree the sale between us, then the entitlement moves to you and you assign it with DVLA.
We agree a price
You enquire about a plate. I reply within 2 working days. If you make an offer, I will say yes or suggest another figure. Nothing is sold until we both confirm the price by email.
You pay securely
You pay by bank transfer. I send the account details only after we have agreed the price, and only to the email address you used. I do not take card payments on this website.
I transfer the certificate
After the payment has cleared, I add you as the nominee or transfer the certificate to you. That usually takes a few working days. You can see the certificate before you pay.
You assign it to your vehicle
You assign the number to your vehicle online. The official steps are on GOV.UK: keep or assign a private number. The wider guide is here: personalised vehicle registration numbers.
You order physical plates
Once the number is assigned, you order plates from a registered number plate supplier. Making them up is explained on GOV.UK.
Who pays what
- The plate price, paid to me by bank transfer.
- The transfer fee of £80, which is not included. You pay it when the number is assigned to a vehicle.
- The cost of the physical plates, paid by you to a registered supplier.
The DVLA transfer fee of £80 is not included. You pay it when the number is assigned to a vehicle.
Timing
I aim to reply within 2 working days. After cleared funds, the certificate transfer usually takes a few working days. Assigning the number to a vehicle is then in your hands, using the government service.
